Eligibility:
A Pass in 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board in India with minimum 50% marks in aggregate for Physics, Chemistry & Maths.
For the past 28 years Govt. Model Engineering College has empowered its students to pave the way for excellence and innovation in the field of engineering and technology. The institute is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), and was the first engineering college to be established by the Government of Kerala under the aegis of the institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD). The college was previously affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and has witnessed record breaking placements year after year. MEC was featured 37 among the top 100 engineering colleges in India by Outlook magazine and 21 among the top 25 Govt. Engineering colleges in India by DataQuest.
The college offers five undergraduate courses in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Biomedical Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering and four postgraduate courses, namely VLSI Design & Embedded systems, Image Processing, Signal Processing, & Communication Systems, and Energy Management. Unique in its structure, methods and goals, the college is strongly rooted in a philosophy of training and research that emphasizes the intimate relationships between knowledge and its application and seeks to promote the creation of an ideal society.

The admission procedure and the fee structure for the B Tech. programmes are decided by the Government of Kerala. Admissions to the institution is based on merit in the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM) conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Government of Kerala. The details are given in the admission prospectus published by Kerala State Entrance Commissioner under the Government self-financing colleges category. 15% of seats are reserved for the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) admission. The Admission to M.Tech courses are based on Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology, IITs.[1]
Academic Eligibility: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50 % marks in Mathematics separately and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / Bio-technology / Computer Science / Biology taken together are eligible for admission.
Allotment to 95% seats of the annual intake is made by the Commissioner for Entrance examination (CEE), Government of Kerala from the rank list of Kerala Engineering Entrance examination conducted every year by Govt. of Kerala. For Details of Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination and allotment, .
5% seats are reserved for non resident Indians (NRI seats). For NRI admission, separate applications are invited by IHRD and rank list is prepared on the basis of qualifying examination and students are admitted from this rank list.
