The University of Gulbarga was established in the year 1980 in the Karnataka State of Hyderabad, with five districts in the jurisdiction of the Karnataka State Act. Previously, Karnataka University was the master post of Dharwad from the 1970s. Then the University of Gulbarga, the campus of Jnanaganga has 860 acres of land. The university is located east of the city of Gulbarga. There are 38 postgraduate departments in the university and four postgraduate centers in Krishnadevarayanagar, Bellary, Gnanatunga Raichur, Jnanakaranji Bidar, Sarana Sahitya Kendra. The university has 3500 students admitted to the master's degree in various disciplines. In addition, M.Phil and Ph.D. have facilitated research studies. As well as 160 professors, over 700 faculty and non-teaching staff. The University has 407 colleges undergraduate or Diploma courses in Arts, Vision, Music, Sociology and Technology, Commerce. There are education and legal departments.
The university has the motto 'Vidyaaye Amrita' in gold. Gulbarga University has come up with the 'nectar' of the university, in a bid to inspire and educate the students of Hyderabad Karnataka region. Engaged in building and developing the higher goal of higher education for this sector.
